Valid ID must be presented in order to receive notarial services. The following forms of identification can be used to validate the identity of the signer provided it is current and/or was issued within the last 5 years:
An identification card or driver's license issued by a governing state department of Licensing or other government agency (i.e. military ID)
A United states Passport or Passport Card
An inmate identification card issued by the Washington Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation (if client is in state custody)
Any form of inmate identification issued by a sheriff's department (if inmate is in custody in a local detention facility)
A credible witness with valid unexpired ID may be used in lieu of a photo ID. The credible witness must be known by both the notary and the signer. For certain cases, two credible witnesses with valid ID (not known by the notary) may be used.
*Please Note: other forms of identification may be accepted provided they meet the qualifications set forth by the Secretary of State in the state of Washington and/or the contracting parties (i.e. Lenders, Title, & Escrow).
Original signers must be present at the time of notarization; Third parties can not execute an affirmation or oath (jurat) on behalf of another person.
Incomplete documents or documents that do not contain correct notarial wording will not be notarized.
For documentation purposes and as required thumbprints, signatures, and identification will be recorded at a signing.
Payment for general notarial acts will be due at the time services are rendered. Personal checks are considered on a case by case basis.
